The biggest pool in the world

By Guido Trombetta on 10:55 AM ,

In San Alfonso del Mar, a huge resort in Chile, there is the biggest swimming pool in the world as it has been certified by The Guinnes World Record. It's so big that it should be called more properly an artificial lagoon. This lagoon is eight hectares in size and contains 250,000 cubic meters of water. The most impressive dimension is its length: no less than 1km! It's so long that people use kajaks and even sailing boats to move around in the pool. The craziest part of the story is that this huge pool has been built all along the seaside so that the wonderful beach of San Alonso lays between the true sea and the artifical one. The revolutionary clear water artificial lagoons, transparent to a depth of 35 meters and unprecedented in design and construction methods, are the brainchild of Crystal Lagoons founder, biochemist and Chilean businessman Fernando Fischmann. Equivalent in size to an incredible 6,000 standard domestic pools! For more info click here
